  3. This document is an introduction to Voss Net Online, the premiere Internet
  4. access software for home and business computer users.

  6. If you wish to go ahead and try the service straight away, please read
  7. the file 'Getting Started'.

  9. Voss Net Online provides you entry into every corner of the Internet
  10. including the World Wide Web, News Groups, and electronic mail.

  12. What's Inside Voss Net Online

  14. After signing on to Voss Net Online, the Internet is at your fingertips.

  16. World Wide Web ("The Web")

  18. The hottest feature on the Internet is "The Web".  Pictures, photos,
  19. graphics, and text are combined on Web pages to provide an appealing
  20. way to view information and interact with what's on your screen.

  22. Click on the spider web icon to reach the Web.

  24. Electronic Mail

  26. As a Voss Net Online subscriber, you are issued your own electronic mail
  27. address.  You can compose and send electronic mail messages to anyone else
  28. connected to Internet and read mail sent to your Voss Net Online address.

  30. Click on the mailbox icon to read or compose electronic mail messages.

  34. Explore the hundreds of News Groups that proliferate the Internet.
  35. Interested in a specific subject?  Chances are very good that a news group
  36. already exists for you to share your views and benefit from the views and
  37. advice of others.

  39. There are two Voss Net specific News Groups.  The vossnet.help group answers
  40. your questions about Voss Net Online.  The vossnet.chat group is a free form
  41. forum for you to share with other Voss Net Online subscribers.

  43. Click on the newspaper icon to get to news groups.

  45. Exploring the Internet

  47. The Internet is by all definitions enormous, and it's growing everyday.
  48. Luckily there are reference guides and tools to help you find what you are
  49. looking for.

  51. Search tools with names like "Veronica", "Archie", "Jughead", and "Gopher"
  52. are invaluable for helping you find information.  They are all available
  53. through Voss Net Online.

  55. Click on the question mark icon or on the menu items titled, "The Internet:
  56. Guides and Tools" and "Reference Desk".

  85. APPLICATION NOTES

  87. If you are using smartdrive with the /x option, you may encounter some
  88. errors with directory and file creation when using the user interface.  This
  89. is known problem and a fix is forthcoming. The temporary workaround is to
  90. use smartdrive without the /x option.
  91.  
  92. On some hi-colour graphics cards running in 24bit mode you may encounter 
  93. 'Overflow Error' messages. If you come accross these reduce the number of
  94. colours in Windows to 65,536 or 256.
